your rhyming, timing language.

chocolate is really not the best thing for me.
i believe you now.
i remember, when you first said that, i thought you had ten heads.
and caffeine. and mint gum.
mint gum? i once lived on a mint gum diet.
started at two pieces a day, worked my way down to three-quarters of a stick.
not my finest time...

funny, those were the days when you showed up.
i remember catching glances through the cafeteria.
i was self conscious. i felt unworthy. ugly.
you later told me it was that day i intrigued you most.
i was mysterious, you said.
beautiful, too.

oh, i loved you for it. for thinking me divine at my worst.
somehow i feel you'd say the same today.
do you know how i've missed you, my perfect piece of poetry?
so unobtainable. unattainable. untameable.
i believe you do.

it's me you write to, no?
those poems that girls faint over,
wishing they were the ones you spoke of.
and here i am, your mil-recurring subject,
your muse. your soul keeper. your lover.
but i've been locked out of your mind...

...at least i'm still in your heart.

no more chocolate.
no more caffeine.
but i'm not losing the mint gum.

because sometimes, the things that bring you pain are the things you love the most.
